Working Through Working From Home

working from home

Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, many of us are finding out what it’s like working from home. That’s right, we are now living in a timeline when we still have homework outside of school.

In all seriousness, for most of us, it can be a tough adjustment to pack up and take your work home. It will take some time to find some sort of balance.

Luckily, we figured out some tips on how you can cope and find your momentum in this moment of crisis.

5 Tips To Make Work From Home Work For You

Find your space

While working from home, it’s important to find a centre in your house where you can feel the most relaxed but give you more focus to work on your tasks. This will be your workspace for the time being and you need to be zeroed in on your tasks as much as possible avoiding any distractions.

Carry on your weekly routine

In some ways, this is just the same as any other day minus the commute to and from work. Working from home isn’t any different and we shouldn’t treat it as such. Get on with what you’ve been doing pre-lockdown and try to keep a steady routine going. Like:

  1. 6 am – Shower
  2. 7 am – 11 am – Work
  3. 11 am – 12 pm – Lunch
  4. 12 pm – 4 pm – Work again
  5. 4 pm – Binge Netflix with family

If you have family and loved ones at home, it’s important to let them know that in order to be productive at work, you need to set a few healthy boundaries.

Take on a new hobby

We’ve gained a huge chunk of time thanks to the loss of commute. Technically we have more time to get into more hobbies and activities. Now is probably the perfect time to learn how to knit, binge watch movies or a series, take up dancing, and finish your video game backlog.

Provided you accomplish your work first.

Amp up communications

Now that we’ve separated from our officemates, communications is more crucial now as it has ever been. Maintain open communications with your colleagues and managers, give them work and life updates. It helps to talk to someone in these trying times and you can also simultaneously help someone who’s going through it as well.

Meditate

Always give yourself a little time to reflect. Take small breaks in between tasks, stretch your legs, talk to friends, try yoga, do anything to get you through your days. We all deal with things differently and you should find that one thing to help you get through it.
